Even partial fields made from wood, taped markings, or printed targets can significantly improve testing accuracy. Realistic practice reveals issues with alignment, visibility, cycle time, and consistency. - Data logging and metrics Track measurable variables such as cycle time, scoring accuracy, drivetrain speed, motor temperatures, battery voltage, and failure rates. Software logs, spreadsheets, and telemetry systems allow teams to analyze trends and compare design variations objectively. - Repeatable test procedures Define consistent starting positions, time limits, driver actions, and scoring rules. Document each run carefully. Repeatability ensures that differences in results are caused by design changes rather than random variation. - Regression testing for software As code evolves, new changes can unintentionally break working systems.
